And… I’m back.

After 10 days out of the office at a family wedding/reunion, yesterday was a rough transition back to the real world. One thing I did notice about myself during my trip was my own social media consumption. Did I check Facebook and Twitter on my phone while I was away? Duh. Did I check Google+? Nope. I had already installed the app and everything, but I never took the time to see what my circles were doing.

At first, I was surprised at myself, given just how excited I was about G+. On my vacation, though, it just seemed redundant. My friends on G+ represent just a fraction of my friends on Facebook. And the posts they put on G+, they are also posting on Facebook.

It will be interesting to see if this trend remains, even as more and more people jump on the G+ bandwagon. Will people use G+ as an independent tool, or will they use it to simply duplicate the status update they already posted on Facebook, which is actually just a duplicate of their lastest Tweet?
